GRAND RAPIDS, MICH.

End the Woke Spending, Fix the Roads Now

Grand Rapids is a city built on hard work and community values. For generations, our residents have understood that a strong city is built on solid foundations: safe streets, effective public services, and responsible spending. But lately, it feels like our city leaders at City Hall have forgotten these core principles, opting instead for a detour into costly ideologies that do little to serve the everyday needs of Grand Rapids families and businesses.

We’re seeing it everywhere. Small businesses are struggling under increasing regulations and an uncertain economic climate, while families are tightening their belts to make ends meet. Yet, the focus from some of our elected officials seems to be elsewhere – on grand, abstract projects and “social initiatives” that offer more virtue signaling than tangible benefits to our community.

Where is the outrage over the condition of our local parks, which are becoming less safe and well-maintained? Where is the urgent plan to address the rising cost of living that is pushing long-time residents out of their homes? These are the issues that keep Grand Rapidians up at night, not the latest buzzwords from downtown think tanks.

It’s time for a reality check. Our police force needs unwavering support and resources, not defunding efforts or constant criticism. Our firefighters and first responders deserve our full backing. These are the people who keep our city safe and respond in times of crisis. Diverting funds from these essential services for experimental programs is not just irresponsible; it’s a threat to our collective safety and well-being.

The argument is simple: prioritize the basics. Let’s get back to responsible governance that focuses on:

Fiscal Prudence: Stop wasteful spending and ensure taxpayer dollars are used efficiently on proven solutions, not untested theories. Strong Public Safety: Equip and empower our law enforcement to keep our neighborhoods secure and vibrant. Infrastructure Investment: Repair our roads, improve our public spaces, and invest in the practical necessities that make Grand Rapids a great place to live and work.

We cannot afford to let Grand Rapids drift further away from common sense. We need leaders who listen to the people, not to distant voices pushing agendas that don’t align with our community’s values. It’s time to demand accountability and a return to the principles that made Grand Rapids strong. Let’s put our city, our families, and our future first.
